The carrier now offers additional coverages such as renters insurance, equipment breakdown insurance, and business owners policies.

Anchor Insurance currently offers its products in 13 states, primarily in the southern US. The insurance company works with independent insurance agents to offer their customers the best possible experience when hunting for the right coverage.

Anchor Insurance is not as highly rated as some insurance companies. AM Best recently adjusted the carrier's rating to a grade of "B" (fair). High ratings from AM Best demonstrate that an insurance company is capable of offering trustworthy, reputable coverage. Insurance customers are encouraged to seek companies with an AM Best rating of "A" or higher.

Established in 1899, AM Best is one of the oldest rating companies in the world. Reviews from AM Best indicate an insurance company’s financial strength and creditworthiness and are based on comprehensive evaluations of the company’s operating performance, business profile, and annual report.

Anchor Insurance Customer Reviews

Better Business Bureau
Had my roof damaged by hail storm, they came and said there was no damage to my roof. I had to hire an adjuster that is now taking care of the claim. All houses in my condo had to replace the roof after the storm. Anchor is in violation of Section 624.155 of the Florida Statutes, they didn't even attempt in good faith to settle the claims when it could and should have done so. I'll be suing for damages. Stay away from them if you want to be covered when needed. Why do we pay insurance if [we] can't use it?

Better Business Bureau
After signing up with them, within a month they sent out and cancellation notice. Came to find out their investors back out and they are trying to make it the home owner['s] fault by finding fault in the home.

Better Business Bureau
Waited on hold for 47 minutes (after leaving a voicemail the day before) for them to tell me to email a formal request in - I asked for a a manager and they told me there was none in the office - WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER - RUUUUNNN!!!! I WISH THERE WAS AN OPTION FOR A ZERO STAR

Better Business Bureau
So far I have NOT been impressed with Anchor and it's lack of concern over my issue. Due to a water problem I have not been able to move into my new home. It seems that my requests for action seems to be falling on deaf ears. Unless there is a quick turnaround on my claim, I think that I might get my lawyer involved to resolve this lack of professionalism.

Better Business Bureau
We will be proceeding with lawyer for the remainder of our claim. Untimely, unprofessional, and mostly unreliable. Sad that reaching out to adjusters, their supervisors could not bring a timely resolution to our claim.

TrustedChoice.com's Final Review

We award Anchor Insurance a final rating of 2 out of 5 stars. For starters, Anchor Insurance has only been around in the insurance industry for a few years now. The carrier is rated a "B" by AM Best, which is a deterrent for many prospective customers seeking an "A"-rated company or higher. The insurance company is also not BBB accredited.

While Anchor Insurance offers a handful of important insurance coverages, they don't make much specific information about their products readily available without going through an agent. The carrier only offers its coverage in 13 states currently. Further, all customer reviews seem to lean heavily towards the negative side, which is discouraging.

Overall, we recommend working together with an independent insurance agent to survey your other options for exceptional insurance coverage, and perhaps skip looking into Anchor Insurance.
